10 Horror Movies That Deserve A Remake (And Why)
9. Creepshow
Moving in a complete opposite direction, not every film that necessitates a remake to tell some sort of grand tale. Certain films can just exist for the purpose of pure entertainment. Creepshow by its nature is the sort of film that can work literally at any time, provided the story is strong enough.
First adapted for film by George A. Romero and Stephen King, a formidable conglomerate of horror icons themselves, Creepshow used the too-rare anthology format to weave campy tales of terror. The film even went so far as to incorporate bizarre comic-book style backgrounds inspired form its source material.
None of the Creepshow sequels matched the originator, which included tales of a germophobe's home slowly being infested by hundreds of thousands of cockroaches, or a crate from an Arctic expedition containing some missing-link style monstrosity that devoured those with which it came into contact.
As previously stated, the beauty of Creepshow is that it doesn't need an update. Simply collect a series of horror directors with a sense of style and humor (hello Eli Roth, Rob Zombie, Edgar Wright, and, just for laughs, Ari Aster), and give them carte blanche to let their imaginations run wild, and rake in the profit.
