10 Horror Movies That Forced You To Answer Impossible Questions

6. Would You Buy A Bargain House If An Entire Family Was Murdered In It? - The Amityville Horror

Saw movie
American International Pictures

In both the original 1979 The Amityville Horror and its 2005 remake, the Lutz family moves into their dream home that they managed to snag at a bargain price.

The deal came about, however, because an horrendous crime was committed there a year prior - a man murdered all six members of his family in the middle of the night.

While there's of course zero tangible evidence in real life that supernatural forces can possess a person and compel them to murder their family, nobody could really be blamed for not wanting to live in a house where six people were slain just a year before.

The ever-present dark cloud of the house's history, and the potential for it to become a ghoulish tourist spot, ultimately may not make even a massive discount worthwhile.

Then again, money talks, and if you can score a massive reduction on your mortgage while putting your dream home's horrific past to the back of your mind, you're instantly much, much closer to being mortgage-free and maybe even able to retire early.
