10 Horror Movies That Gave Fans EXACTLY What They Wanted (And They Hated It)

Okay, maybe everyone wasn't clamouring for the much-discussed third I Know What You Did Last Summer movie, but for those who were anticipating finally seeing this third leg, the wait absolutely was not worth it.

From Scream screenwriter Kevin Williamson - loosely based on Lois Duncan's 1973 novel of the same name - the first I Know What You Did offering arrived in 1997, featuring a cast of Hollywood's hot young things and an entertaining, engaging narrative with some fun twists.

Of course, hook-handed fisherman Ben Willis stalks our central group of Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Geller and Ryan Philippe after he'd been run over by the four a year prior. Hewitt's Julie James and FPJ's Ray Bronson manage to survive and return for a Bahamas-set sequel - 1998's I Still Know What You Did Last Summer - and the duo likewise made it out of that follow-up alive, with the original plan was for a third film to wrap up the franchise.

For various reasons, that third and final picture - which was always to be titled I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer - took eight years to arrive, involved zero characters from the previous two pictures, featured a Ben Willis who was essentially a supernatural figure, went straight to DVD, and is largely revered as one of the worst horror films of the past two decades.
