10 Horror Movies That Got Scarier YEARS Later

4. Halloween III: Season of the Witch

When Halloween III: Season of the Witch was first released in 1982, all anyone would talk about was the absence of franchise icon Michael Myers rather than actually considering the merits of what was in the movie.

And so for years, Halloween III was basically the outcast entry of the series - the goofy one where a corporation conspires to murder children by placing cursed microchips inside Halloween masks.

But in recent years there's been a considerable turnaround on Halloween III's reputation, as fans have finally stopped pining for Mikey and engaged with the film on its own terms.

Even accepting the undeniable silliness of its premise, Season of the Witch's anti-capitalist messaging has aged shockingly well.

In an era where corporations can only scarcely contain their contempt for the average person - sorry, consumer - and regular folk perhaps feel more disenfranchised than ever, the movie's bleak hopelessness strikes a chord more now even than it did four decades ago.
