10 Horror Movies That Made It Up As They Went Along (But Were Awesome Anyway)

6. Bad Taste

World War Z
Endeavour Productions

Peter Jackson's debut feature, Bad Taste, centres a group of friends who discover aliens are abducting people and harvesting their flesh for a fast-food chain in space. Like Jackson's better-known horror comedy, Braindead, this film is ridiculous, campy, and filled with more absurd gore than you could fathom.

Considering the Kiwi filmmaker wrote, starred, directed, designed, and produced the film himself with a measly $25,000 budget, it's incredible that Bad Taste turned out to be a pretty solid flick.

Stranger still, Jackson made the entire movie... without a script. Although there are plenty of movies that went into production without a finished script, Bad Taste is among the few that never had one to begin with.

Instead, Jackson devise ideas for the movie in his head between Monday to Friday, and then shot those scenes during the weekend. After maintaining this practice for four years (the same length it took him to make The Lord of the Rings), the film was a wrap. Although Bad Taste is, by no means, a masterpiece, it's bewildering how well structured it is, considering Jackson had no idea where the story was going throughout the production.
