10 Horror Movies That Only Work In The Cinema

Like Audrey Hepburn in Wait Until Dark, Blake Lively is a lone protagonist facing a seemingly impossible challenge in 2016's The Shallows.

Nancy Adams (Lively) is a surfer who becomes stranded out at sea on a rock. Oh, and there's the small matter of a giant great white shark patrolling the waters around her. Think of it as a cross between Jaws and Phone Booth.

Not only is Nancy stuck on a rock with no hope of making it back to shore, she's also injured from an earlier tangle with her new fishy friend. The movie centres on her attempts to heal her wound and make it back to dry land without ending up as Bruce's breakfast.

Whilst watching a film at home, it's easier to distract oneself from the action on screen. You can go to the bathroom without barging past six other people. You can get a snack without paying a fortune. You can go on your phone without being banned for life. Not in a cinema though.

Instead, you're forced to watch on, teeth clenched, as Nancy battles the odds and it is truly heart-racing stuff.
