10 Horror Movies That Wasted Brilliant Concepts
1. Alien 3
Even with the best intentions, movie studios will always suffer setbacks and delays, and be forced to ultimately change the release date for any number of their movies. This is what happened with Alien 3, a movie that was notorious for its problems behind the scenes.
Struggling to find a director and dealing with multiple different scripts didn’t stop the first teaser trailer completely jumping the gun, promising a version of the movie that was ultimately never released. Instead of taking place on board Fury 161, Alien 3 was supposed to bring the titular Xenomorph down to Earth.
The trailer teased that audiences would find out that on Earth, no one can hear you scream. After the legendary first movie, and an incredibly successful sequel, this would have been a great way to inject the franchise with something new on its third outing.
Instead, between the release of the teaser and the release of the movie itself, it underwent major changes and ultimately had absolutely nothing to do with Earth. Instead, it was a relatively disappointing threequel that didn’t come close to matching the brilliance of the first two movies.
