7. Alien Abduction: Incident In Lake County

The Night Flier
Paramount

Alien Abduction: Incident in Lake County is a bigger-budget remake of Dean Alioto's legendary 1989 found footage film UFO Abduction, perhaps better known as The McPherson Tape.

The remake was made-for-TV in 1998 and immediately sparked debate online over its apparent authenticity as "real" footage, which was of course eventually debunked when people realised its inspiration.

Sadly unlike most films on this list, Alien Abduction hasn't ever graduated beyond VHS, and so unless you're able to seek out a rare copy of the video tape, you're forced to rely on grotty VHS rips posted to YouTube.

Though The McPherson Tape received a nifty Blu-ray release in 2020, the same treatment sadly hasn't been afforded for the remake yet, despite it originally being aired on TV by Paramount, who with their vast resources should probably be able to swing that.

In the very least put it on Paramount+, guys.
