10 Horror Movies Where Pranks Brutally Backfired

Trick r' Treat is a wonderful Halloween horror movie, featuring a series of interconnected vignettes all tied together by the adorable scarecrow-masked mascot Sam(hain.)

The 'Halloween School Bus Massacre' features a group of teens who play a trick on a quiet, Halloween-loving girl named Rhonda. Rhonda believes in Halloween tradition, including one that says as long as you have a lit jack-o-lantern, you're protected from the creatures of the night.

The prank involves taking Rhonda to a rock quarry full of water where legend says a busload of kids was driven to their death by parents who could no longer deal with them, aided by a complicit bus driver. Macy, the bad girl of the group, says they should leave 8 lit pumpkins in tribute.

Several of the group, meanwhile, dress as zombies, terrifying Rhonda and causing her to run back to the elevator. Macy, while cleaning up, scoffs at tradition and kicks a pumpkin into the water, a really bad idea which shows viewers what happens when you don't respect the rules of Halloween (a theme which runs through the movie.)

The undead kids ascend from the depths and tear into the group. Rhonda, who has locked herself and her still-lit pumpkin in the elevator, ignores the pleas of the group and leaves the pranksters to be killed by the zombified children.

Every rule has a reason...
