10 Horror Movies Where The Villain Is Never Seen
8. Final Destination
The villain of Final Destination isn’t just a classic horror movie antagonist, but the greatest baddy any one of us will ever face off against: Death itself. While the series stretched out its concept a few films too many and could certainly be guilty of hoakiness at times, there’s no arguing with that central hook.
The first film remains great fun, and with an exceptional opening sequence. A young man returning from a school trip to Paris has a premonition that his flight home is going to crash. Panicked, he and a few other passengers disembark. Moments later, the plane explodes, killing everyone else on board.
They think they’ve escaped; really, though, all they’ve done is temporarily evade Death’s grip, and the Grim Reaper will have his victims. One by one, the survivors are picked off in gruesome and often genuinely shocking fashion.
It’s pure gimmick schlock, but for the first film especially, it’s a real blast, with the deaths in turn ironic and startling. In Death, there’s a villain who packs a real punch.
