10 Horror Movies Where The Villain Survives
5. Eden Lake
Benefitting from the zeitgeist of the pre 2010’s UK, Eden Lake is one of several movies at the time exploiting the fear of hooded teenagers in ‘Broken Britain’.
A couple, Jenny and Steve, pay a visit to a quaint English town for a short camping holiday. After encountering some thuggish youths things start to get increasingly scary for the couple: the group stalk them, steal their car and eventually resort to kidnap and torture.
After torturing Steve to death, the group go after Jenny as she frantically tries and fails to find someone to help her. She manages to steal a car and drive to a home, where she is taken inside. At this point you might believe things could be resolved- you would be wrong.
Turns out that the house belongs to the parents of the gang leader, Brett, and a party is being hosted with all the other gang members’ parents in attendance. As Jenny is subdued by the parents, Brett goes up to his room and deletes the video evidence of his actions, listening to Jenny’s screams from downstairs.
The parents, we assume, take care of the loose ends and the murderous teens continue to live their lives unscathed.
