10 Horror Movies With Amazing Concepts But TERRIBLE Execution
1. Fantasy Island
Whoever could've predicted that Blumhouse would develop a horror adaptation of the 1970s fantasy-drama series Fantasy Island - a show with no horror element whatsoever?
All the same, it was actually a pretty damn inspired idea, at least as far as big-screen takes on decades-old IP are concerned.
The setup, whereby a group of people visit the titular island to have their fantasies come true, only for them to quickly turn horrific, absolutely had the potential to tap into the same darkly surreal vibe of the Nightmare on Elm Street movies.
But even if you can forgive the PG-13 rating, it's just so damn tame. There's no intensity whatsoever, and it doesn't embrace its own sense of camp willingly enough to be a genuine slice of goofy fun.
It's just incredibly flat and convoluted to boot, ensuring that most likely lost interest long before the end credits finally rolled.
