10 Horror Movies You Didn't Know Nearly Happened

2. Dumb And Dumber Found Footage Horror Movie

Dumb and Dumber To
Universal

It is no secret that 1994's Dumb and Dumber had a troubled production and Jim Carrey wanted to shoot a film based on the unusual events surrounding the picture's production while filming its 2014 sequel.

He approached Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (collectively known as the Daniels) about working on his project shortly after seeing the first Paranormal Activity flick. Carrey claimed that the comedy was filmed at the Stanley Hotel (the same place where The Shining was shot) and the venue was apparently haunted and he intended for the feature to be shot at the same time as the sequel.

The directing duo was excited to work with Carrey on such a unique project but the follow-up's producers were not keen on working on two projects at the same time. A Daniels-directed movie with such a plot would no doubt be an interesting feature that would greatly benefit from their distinct sensibilities.

On an unrelated note, a film based on the revelation that the sequel was partially funded with money stolen from a Malaysian government investment fund would be just as compelling.
