20 INSANE Horror Movie Moments You'll Never Stop Thinking About
Those horror movie moments that live rent-free in your head.
Most horror movies want to leave some sort of lasting impact with the viewer, and while it's fair to say that most average films ultimately don't, every so often one comes along with a moment so absolutely WTF that you simply won't ever forget it.
This can be many things - maybe an especially brutal and creative death scene, an expertly executed jump scare, a shocking twist ending, and basically anything else in-between.
Indeed, these 20 horror movies all served up a categorically insane moment that tattooed itself onto your brain the moment you saw it. No matter how long it's been since you saw the movie, this moment is assuredly living rent-free in your head for the long haul.
More than any other genre, horror has the ability to tap into the viewer's unconscious and stay there, to transmit images that basically embed themselves in the DNA of the audience forever more.
And there are no better examples of that than these gnarly, twisted, unhinged scenes, which we'll all still be having nightmares about years, even decades from now...
20. Baseball Boy's Death - Doctor Sleep
Doctor Sleep is a rare belated horror sequel that really works, and Mike Flanagan sure didn't pull his punches throughout, as is no better evidenced than by the absolutely traumatic murder of Bradley Trevor aka Baseball Boy (Jacob Tremblay).
Bradley is preyed upon by the True Knot, a cult which feeds on the essence or "steam" that resides within people with psychic powers.
The True Knot kidnaps Bradley and pins him on the ground before their monstrous leader, Rose the Hat (Rebecca Ferguson), stabs him repeatedly, all while the group drinks in the steam that evaporates from his body.
Child murder is a tough sell in even the grimmest of horror films, but Flanagan threads the needle perfectly here, cementing just how irredeemably evil the True Knot really is.
The scene wouldn't hit quite so hard without a fearlessly committed performance from Jacob Tremblay as Bradley, though - his terrified screams and desperate pleas to be spared won't leave you for weeks.
