10 Horror Remakes You Didn’t Know Were Coming In 2019

The Original: Guillermo del Toro’s first adaptation of Mike Mignola’s graphic novels was a big hit with critics and Hellboy fans alike back in the mid-noughties and followed by an equally beloved sequel Hellboy II: The Golden Army in 2008 both starring Ron Perlman as the titular demonic superhero.

Fans have been hankering for a del Toro directed third film ever since although their hopes were finally dashed when the director announced early last year that there would definitely be no Hellboy 3.

The Remake: With as beloved a property as the Hellboy movies any remake is going to be controversial and fans were understandably concerned when news broke of a reboot helmed by director Neil Marshall (Dog Soldiers, The Descent) with nary a del Toro nor a Perlman in sight.

Perhaps not wanting to ignite the wrath of diehard Hellboy fans, the team behind the reboot are keeping relatively tight-lipped about plot details but with fan-favourite Perlman saying he’s made his peace with the reboot and officially giving new star David Harbour (of Stranger Things fame) his blessing it looks like the movie is good to go.

And as disappointing as the premature end to del Toro’s proposed trilogy may be, with the wealth of talent involved in the reboot and Marshall promising a darker, more gruesome tone more in line with Mignola’s comics it might be a little early for fans to write it off just yet.
