10 Horror Sequels That Are Actually Worth Watching

9. M3GAN 2.0 (2025)

Saw X
Blumhouse

After three years in the scrap yard (or two in-universe), Gerard Johnstone’s M3GAN has returned to our screens, geared up and ready to go 2.0 style.

Now an advocate for safe AI systems and government oversight of new technology, Gemma (Allison Williams) has been tinkering away at systems designed for the greater good. But, though she assumed her autonomous lifelike android days were firmly behind her, a military-grade AI known as AMELIA (Ivanna Sakhno) forces her back into the fray. And who better to help her out in the fight than original murderous android girl-boss M3GAN (Amie Donald/Jenna Davis)?

Taking the time-honoured approach of turning the franchise villain into its hero (see: Terminator, Godzilla, Predator, et al.), M3GAN 2.0 brings back the sassy doll droid in a more reflective, respectful and helpful mood. The action is non-stop, the kills gory and fun, and the bold choice to switch the genre to sci-fi action comedy horror (in that order) has to be respected. Sure, it’s not quite as good as the first one, but what it lacks in scares and dread, it makes up for in wacky humour.
