10 Horror Villains Who Were Just Misunderstood

8. Xenomorph Queen – Aliens

American Psycho
20th Century Fox

Being the hero of the original Alien film series, there’s a tendency to see things only from Ripley’s side but let’s take a look at the events from the Xenomorph Queen’s point of view. She’s about to become a mother for the first time when a group of cocksure space marines led by a lady that killed one of her distant relatives 50 odd years ago rock up to her homeland and threaten both her progeny and the future of her species.

She even kept her cool initially and was willing to let Ripley and Newt escape so long as they didn’t hurt her babies but then Ripley had to go and bazooka the whole brood and the Queen quite naturally went apesh*t.

It was simply her motherly instinct showing. You shouldn't begrudge Ripley for wanting to protect her pseudo-child Newt so why begrudge the Queen for protecting her younglings? When you think about it there’s not much difference between Ripley and the Xenomorph Queen – we’re just prejudiced against the latter because she’s all gooey and terrifying and whatnot.
