10 Huge Casting Surprises Avengers: Doomsday Could Still Pull

Marvel must have something big up their sleeves for Avengers: Doomsday...

For any other film franchise, announcing 27 names would surely leave absolutely no room for anyone else to join the party. However, this is the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this is an Avengers movie, and this is not the fans' first rodeo.

Simply put - is there anyone who truly believes that the full cast of Avengers: Doomsday has been announced?

There are a handful of names omitted from the backs of the chairs that are more than likely going to appear. No one is going to be too shocked when the Hulk, Captain Marvel, or Doctor Strange make their appearance. But there is still room for some genuine surprises.

There are certainly going to be some characters involved that Kevin Feige wants kept to shock the audience in their seats, and when you consider that the names he was happy to release beforehand include the likes of Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, and Channing Tatum's Gambit, chances are they are going to be big.

There's a stack of characters Marvel Studios could pull from Disney+, there are those that could return from the dead (if they were even dead in the first place), and a whole multiverse full of potential crossovers.

10. Jeffrey Wright As The Watcher

There has been relatively little multiverse in this Multiverse Saga so far, with only a handful of the 12 movies and 14 TV shows (and counting) addressing the possibilities of alternate realities. The likes of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Loki have toyed with the concept, but none more so than What If...?

The premise of the entire show was that The Watcher presented audiences with a different story from a different universe every episode, as he was sworn to observe only and to never interfere.

This rule was broken several times by Jeffrey Wright's Uatu over the show's three-season run, as he often went out of his way to avert multiversal threats and disasters, even forming the Guardians of the Multiverse to stop Ultron from taking over everything.

Knowing that a character like that exists in the MCU, and with such a talented actor in Jeffrey Wright right there, it would feel like one hell of a missed opportunity if Uatu didn't at the very least watch at some point throughout Doomsday. He wouldn't be the first Watcher to appear in an MCU film, but he would certainly be the most significant.
