10 Huge MCU Casting Rumours For Marvel's Phase 4

2. Tobey Maguire As Spider-Man

While this is admittedly one of the harder to believe rumours on this list, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will reportedly include an appearance from Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. This one likely stems from the fact that it Spider-Man trilogy director Sam Raimi has now replaced Scott Derrickson as the sequel's director.

Despite that, it's definitely within the realm of possibility, especially as Raimi's movie is going to explore the Marvel Multiverse (an endless number of alternate timelines and realities). With Marvel Studios reaching a deal with Sony Pictures to have Spidey appear in one of their upcoming films, who's to say it had to be the one played by Tom Holland?

The Morbius trailer even featured the suit worn by Maguire's version of the web-slinger, while set photos have included that franchise's version of The Daily Bugle logo.

It feels like the signs are pointing to this happening, and it's the sort of cameo which would deliver yet another mind-blowing MCU moment. We just have to hope that the Doctor Strange sequel is able to start shooting this summer as planned.
