Is there a more harrowing scene in the history of Disney than Andy's toys staring into the fiery abyss at the end of Toy Story 3? Simba trying to wake up Mufasa after the stampede in The Lion King was bad, but seeing Woody and Buzz embrace their end with each other was something else entirely.

Toy Story 3 offered a perfect ending to the franchise that has since been undermined by sequels, but the truth is the moment was spoiled by a LEGO set before the movie released. The set wouldn't have been called Trash Compactor Escape if they didn't escape from the trash compactor, now would it?

You could argue that Toy Story is a kids' film franchise, and that no one ever truly believed that the toys would die, but how many people going into Up thought they'd see the devastating things they saw in the opening ten minutes? Regardless, the tension was palpable at the end of Toy Story 3, but those in the centre of the LEGO/Toy Story fan Venn diagram wouldn't have felt it.

This wasn't even the biggest thing the toy spoiled, as it clearly painted Lotso in a villainous light; something that was a big reveal after he was introduced as a seemingly loveable and cuddly toy.
