10 Huge Problems You Consciously Ignore Because The Film Is So Good

10. Grease - The Age Of The Cast

Grease was the highest-grossing film of 1978, and many of its songs and scenes remain iconic to this day. It eventually spawned a (relatively panned) sequel, as well as one of the most popular stage musicals in recent memory. It's soundtrack topped the charts too, and is still your bread and butter for wedding discos across the world. A success on all fronts then. That said, there was a very obvious elephant in the room that audiences had to content with - aren't these characters supposed to be kids?! Anyone watching the film today will find themselves asking who cast the film. They'd be right to wonder because by the time of the film's release, much of the cast was above the age of 30, or at least late-twenties. Many of them look even older. Famously Olivia Newton-John, playing an 18 year old, was 29 when the film hit cinemas. Of course, this didn't do the film or Olivia Newton-John any harm. In fact, it's probably a lesson that if someone's right for the part, the audience doesn't mind about cosmetic issues like age.
