10 Huge Questions That Undermine Back To The Future
2. Why Didn't Marty Give Himself More Than Ten Minutes To Save Doc Brown?
Marty's panicking that Doc Brown's ripped up those instructions to protect himself. Then comes the realisation, he's in a time machine. He can travel back to any time he wants! So why does he give himself ten minutes to save the Doc? What exactly was planning to do? If the Libyans found him in a random parking lot in the middle of the night, with no explanation of how, what exactly is the Doc going to do to save himself in ten minutes? Why couldn't Marty give himself a week, meet the Doc and hatch a plan with him? Or tell him to, you know, not steal plutonium from terrorists? Of course, the ten minutes he does give himself are then wasted, as the Delorean doesn't arrive at the shopping mall. But surely Marty should realise this too? He's seen it travel twice, and both times, it didn't end up somewhere different (although admittedly, the iciness on the car is inconsistent). Come on McFly, use your head.
