You can't take anything for granted in Star Wars, because even the most minor of characters might one day end up playing a huge role in the saga.

One actual example of this happens during the Boonta Eve Classic podrace in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace.

As Anakin, Sebulba, and all your other favourites whizz through the canyons, a female-looking figure with pale white skin and dark red hair can be seen watching them from above.

This is the very first time Star Wars fans are introduced to Aurra Sing.

As is later revealed in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series, Sing is a very powerful bounty hunter with some elements of Force sensitivity. She's also the one who trains Boba Fett in the ways of combat, eventually joining him on a failed mission to assassinate Mace Windu.

Sing turns up all over the place in the Star Wars mythos, even getting a mention in Solo. This blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo was the catalyst for all of it.
