7. Wayne Manor Is Wollaton Hall In Nottingham, England
When Bruce Wayne is laid to rest in a plot next to his mother and father, we see a beautiful chateau over Alfred Pennyworth's shoulder. It's then the loyal butler mourns the loss of the boy he had raised and the man he'd become. Many of the palatial estate's rooms were used, including the balcony Bruce Wayne used to scope out party guests, the Salon Room served as Wayne Manor's East Wing, and more.
Warner Brothers invested millions of dollars to update the interior and exterior of Bruce Wayne's not-so-humble abode. To demonstrate the Wayne family's opulence and wealth, production set the scene in Nottingham, England. Wollaton Hall was designed by architect Robert Smythson, who also created Elizabethan-era manors, including Hardwick Hall, Burton Agnes Hall, and Gawthorpe Hall. Basically, the dude was all about making halls.
As a result of its appearance in The Dark Knight Rises, Wollaton Hall smartly capitalized on the film's popularity, even attempting to break a Batman costume contest world record. Because of the spike in tourism during and after filming, Nottingham City Councilman Nigel Hawkins credits "the Batman Effect," for the vast uptick in annual visitors.
