10 Iconic Classical Songs You Only Know Because Of The Movies

5. The Sorcerer€™s Apprentice From Fantasia

I€™ll always remember Fantasia being something of an outsider to the other Disney films I loved growing up. While today they€™re still cranking out hits in Wreck-It Ralph and Tangled, it€™s close to a metaphysical certainty than anyone who grew up watching films has seen Bambi, presumably being every parent€™s first dip into the sea of scarring your children intentionally. When you€™re used to lovable characters and Peter Pan flying around playing pranks on Captain Hook, an all-out animated collection of classical music seemed very overwhelming to me at a young age. I mean, did it happen to feature an appearance from the Devil himself as he summons evil spirits to the works of Mussorgsky and Schubert but a special Blu-ray release (as well as a little help from Father Time) really sharpens up what is a spectacularly visual film, perfectly matched to classic music. Comprised of eight short animated films to create a feature length outing, the most well known of these is where Mickey Mouse dons a magic hat and makes a broomstick come to life to help him fetch water down from a well to The Sorcerer€™s Apprentice by Paul Dukas. If you haven€™t checked out Fantasia, get ready for quite an experience.
