10 Iconic Film Performances With Hardly Any Screen Time

2. Matthew McConaughey €“ Wolf Of Wall Street

Matthew McConaughey€™s screen time in Wolf of Wall Street may not amount to much more than ten minutes but he managed to make the film in his scene-stealing, albeit brief, performance as sleazy stockbroker Mark Hanna inducting Leonardo DiCaprio€™s Jordan Belfort to the apparently drug, prostitute and masturbation fuelled world of 1980s Wall Street. Though screenwriter Terence Winter (of Boardwalk Empire and Sopranos fame) fleshed it out with a bit extra dialogue, the legendary liquid lunch is pretty much a faithful recreation of a scene taken from the real life Belfort€™s memoir and one of the film€™s most satirical, perfectly setting the stage for the greedy insanity of the rest of the film. Apparently the famous chest-beating and chanting in the scene is actually a warm-up ritual McConaughey uses to prepare for filming, but after seeing him do it several times during takes DiCaprio insisted that it be included in the scene. A wise choice because it€™s one of the best parts of the scene, apart from maybe learning all about the characters€™ masturbatory habits. Twice a day? Amateurs.
