10 Iconic Horror Death Scenes That Were Much Better Than The Films

9. Sherrie, Trudy, Rachel, Marnie Jenny - Scream 4 (2011)

scream4 The 'Scream' films have always been known for their high body counts, with the opening of the highly anticipated fourth film being no exception. In a head spinning bloodbath with cameos from Anna Paquin and Kristen Bell, the opening of 'Scream 4' became a film, within a film, within another film. The franchise had a tongue- in-cheek parody of itself created by fictional film series 'Stab' tracking the actual film's murders. Since 'Scream 3' there have been seven 'Stab' films, with the sixth and seventh creating the opening for 'Scream 4'- keeping up? When the film within a film finally ends you watch characters Marnie and Jenny run around the house, stalked by the new generation's Ghostface. Jenny has a final showdown in the garage with a faithful nod to Rose McGowan's demise in 'Scream.' For the fourth film, original stars Neve Campbell, Couteney Cox and David Arquette were taken out of their original packaging, buffed, bronzed and botoxed for one more time. It was all so promising- Wes Craven was back at the helm, as was Kevin Williamson, the writer of 'Scream' and 'Scream 2'. The whole gang got back together, but it was still just missing that original spark of "What's your favourite scary movie?" The result was a bit of a pre-teen scream dream with "what's his face", "that girl from" and "oh he was in...." A film that is an enjoyable popcorn watch but handles you with kid gloves. Yes we know technology has moved on, there is no need to ram Ghostface apps and live internet killings down our throats. Switch over from a different channel and at points you would be forgiven for thinking you were watching 'Scary Movie.' Whilst 'Scream 4' was nothing special I still hope for another; Craven's original plan was that this would form the start of a secondly trilogy. One condition though...please kill Sidney Prescott!
