The Scene

When Thor (Chris Hemsworth) crash-lands on trash planet Sakaar and is taken into the custody of the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum), he's forced into gladiatorial combat against none other than The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo).

Upon being unexpectedly reunited with the Big Green Guy, Thor is thrilled, explaining to the Grandmaster, "We know each other, he's a friend from work."

The hysterical quote was included in most of the marketing for Ragnarok, and some 18 months after the film's release, it's probably still its most-quoted sliver of dialogue.

How It Happened

You'd be forgiven for assuming this hilarious zinger was thought up by Taika Waititi or one of Ragnarok's cast members, given that the director heavily encouraged improv during shooting.

But the line had a far more unexpected origin, having been suggested by a Make-A-Wish child visiting the set while the scene was being filmed.

He floated the one-liner to Chris Hemsworth, who gamely turned it into the funniest line in the entire movie. How heart-warming.
