4. Daniel Day-Lewis - There Will Be Blood

Even though 2007€™s There Will Be Blood€™s deliberate pace and epic runtime may test one€™s patience you can€™t deny the simply divine work going on by the one and only Daniel Day-Lewis. As Daniel Plainview in PT Anderson€™s ambitious drama, Day-Lewis achieves a greatness only reserved for the most skilled of actors.

Plainview is an oil man and a greedy one at that who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. You know, like murdering people and bashing people€™s heads in with bowling pins. As he ages and becomes wealthier he also becomes extremely isolated and crazy to the point where he starts rambling on about drinking milkshakes and mocking his deaf son. It€™s one of those cases where the character is so ruthless and bizarre that it becomes intoxicating to witness. You€™re watching a real artist at work €“ one that was rewarded with his second of three unprecedented Best Actor Oscars.
