10 Incredible Castings For Upcoming Movies
3. Tom Burke - Orson Welles (Mank)
David Fincher's upcoming Netflix drama Mank will dramatise the writing process of Orson Welles' 1941 classic Citizen Kane, as screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz (Gary Oldman) - who eventually won an Oscar for his script - clashed with Welles (Tom Burke) over the screenplay credit.
Given Fincher's penchant for grimy pulp, it's certainly a left-field project for the filmmaker, and one that's most likely going to be a major awards player for the 2021 Oscars.
And even accepting Oldman's inspired casting in the titular role, the real head-turner here is the presence of rising star Tom Burke, who recently enjoyed acclaim for his role in Joanna Hogg's drama The Souvenir, as Welles.
In addition to being a remarkable actor, Burke bears a shockingly uncanny resemblance to Welles, and under Fincher's direction, could very well become a major contender for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar next year.
Above all else, he's likely to challenge Christian McKay, who gave a fantastic performance as Welles in Richard Linklater's 2008 film Me and Orson Welles, for the crown of most mind-bogglingly chameleonic rendition of Welles on-screen.
