2. Indiana Jones And The Atomic Ants
What's interesting is that somebody legitimately handed in a screenplay with the title "Indiana Jones and the Atomic Ants" and thought, "yeah, awesome, this has a chance of being made." That somebody was Jeff Nathanson, who had worked with Steven Spielberg on the likes of Catch Me If You Can and The Terminal. Indiana Jones and the Atomic Ants, then - for all we know - might have been the greatest screenplay every written, and hopefully involved a storyline about Indy facing off against giant ants or something and having to, like, whip them and stuff. Really, though, we don't know a lot about this project, except that aspects of it were reused and reworked from Saucer Men and City of Gods into Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. In all likelihood, there may have been an extended scene where - in true '50s B-movie style - Indy really did get to fight atomic ants, given that an ant-based scene was included in the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, though they weren't exactly "atomic" (just mad). Can you imagine if this had been made, though? Raiders of the Lost Ark.... Temple of Doom... Last Crusade... Atomic Ants. Wait, what?!
