It must be a great gig working under the Marvel Studios banner, given the roll-call of big names that have been involved with the MCU in both major roles and supporting parts. There is no denying the fact that the studio have a keen eye when it comes to casting, albeit with a couple of notable exceptions.

The sheer volume of talent spread across the dozen entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far is nothing short of astonishing; Academy Award winners Gwyneth Paltrow, Jeff Bridges, William Hurt, Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman, Tommy Lee Jones, Robert Redford, Ben Kingsley, Benicio del Toro and Michael Douglas, past nominees Robert Downey Jr, Benedict Cumberbatch, Terrence Howard, Edward Norton, Samuel L Jackson, Mickey Rourke, Don Cheadle, Tim Roth, Stanley Tucci, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Josh Brolin, Djimon Honsou, Glenn Close and Bradley Cooper along with acclaimed actors Sam Rockwell, Hugo Weaving, Guy Pearce and James Spader are all involved in establishing the MCU as the biggest brand in Hollywood.

Of course, Marvel aren't overly-reliant on existing stars and are more than capable of creating their own; the association with the studio instantly turned Robert Downey Jr. from a has-been into an A-lister, as well as establishing the Chris trifecta (Evans, Hemsworth and Pratt) as bona-fide Hollywood leading men.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
