10 Inescapable Plot Holes In Avengers: Endgame
1. Stark Doesn’t Need To Snap
Let’s recap the snap.
It’s the physical and metaphorical shorthand for the simultaneous use of all six Infinity Stones - all of which need to be used to effect something as monumental as 1. Thanos eradicating exactly half of all life in the entire universe, and 2. The Avengers reversing that snap to restore them all.
Of course, the climax to Endgame sees a third snap, undertaken as the last act of Tony Stark. However, all Stark wants to do is remove from existence a few thousand people and possibly the hardware they brought along. Does he really need the snap for that?
After all, the first Guardians Of The Galaxy movie makes it clear that one Infinity Stone is more than powerful enough to wipe out a whole world.
Technically he doesn’t even need to do that. Thanos is the real problem. Just killing him alone prevents any possibility of him obtaining the Stones again.
Stark is not a man looking to die. Stark is a man who lists his two equal priorities as reversing the snap to bring back everyone who died in 2018, and keeping his family life intact. Stark is also a man with a nanotech suit of armour that can take any shape... including a weapon that will allow him to wield a single Infinity Stone.
Stark swiping the Stones and affixing them to his own glove makes perfect sense.
Killing himself in a third, completely unnecessary snap? That does not.
