Val Kilmer is notorious around Hollywood for his cavalier attitude and difficulty to work with, and the actor has seemingly never done himself any favours to rectify this troublesome reputation. After being involved in fierce confrontation with his co-star Marlon Brando on the set of The Island Of Dr Moreau a year prior, Kilmer was referred to as being "childish and impossible" by director Joel Schumacher during the shoot of Batman Forever in 1997. Schumacher apparently took issue with Kilmer's treatment of the film crew during production of the third Batman flick, with the star constantly berating staff for the most minor issues imaginable. Schumacher and Kilmer fell out to such an extent that the temporary Bruce Wayne refused to speak to his director for two weeks. A period that Schumacher called "two weeks of bliss". It's worth noting that Schumacher also took issue with Tommy Lee Jones during Batman Forever, labelling him and Kilmer as "overpaid, over-privileged actors" that he hoped he never had to work with again. Ouch.
