2. Aladdin Takes Place In The Future - Aladdin
Of the Disney animated movies produced in the 80s and 90s, Aladdin always stood out to me as the cream of the crop, because its songs, its imagination, and its beauty captivated me from a very young age and still does to this day. This wonderful and underrated gem of a movie does have a few anachronistic marks on the part of the genie, such as his modern day impersonations, which were previously stocked up to a possible time-traveling aspect of the genie. However, the fandoms of the internet took this a step further, and used the nature of the films setting to figure out that the world actually isnt set in the past where Arab culture is the outstanding advancing culture, but in a post-apocalyptic future where the Arab culture is the only one that has survived. The genie mentions that he has been stuck in the bottle for 10,000 years, which would make the year that the world is set in roughly 10,300 AD. This, much like the equally brilliant Adventure Time, brings a very entertaining science fiction element to some great childrens animation, which can be watched and re-watched and re-watched again for many years to come.
