8. Picard and Kirk's Plan To Stop Soran - Star Trek: Generations
THE PLAN: Having been sucked into the Nexus so Picard tracks down Kirk and after having a bit of a laugh cooking eggs and riding horses, they decide that they should probably go back and attempt to stop Soran from destroying the star and wiping out the solar system. Their plan is to leave the Nexus and arrive on Veridian III a full ten minutes before Soran launches his rocket, thus giving themselves loads of time to beat him up, stop the rocket from firing, leaving almost no risk of one of them dying on a rickety old bridge.
WHY IT'S STUPID: While Picard is enjoying Christmas with his freaky looking children, Guinan explains that you can leave the Nexus and arrive at any point in history that you desire, so for Picard to decide on a plan of action that involves him and Kirk rocking up ten minutes before Soran fires off his rocket is probably about as dumb a plan as you could hope for. Why didn't he leave the Nexus and return to the Enterprise when he and Soran were having a nice chat in the bar? Picard could have had him arrested there and then and nobody would question it, Kirk would have been there to back up his story about the Nexus and then they could retire and open a bar called The Captain's Chair.
