10 Inspiring Documentaries Available For Free On Youtube
7. Exit Through The Gift Shop (2010)
Directed by the street-artist Banksy, Exit Through The Gift Shop is a documentary that explores the life of French immigrant Thierry Guetta and his almost obsessive relationship with street-art. The film was originally nominated for an Academy Award back in 2010 but unfortunately lost out to Inside Job (which isnt freely available on Youtube, so screw that film!). The main draw of Exit Through The Gift Shop is Thierry Guetta himself, who is just so inextricably weird and wonderful that he makes for instant entertainment. The man had already been filming large chunks of his life long before he immigrated to Los Angeles and encountered the artist known as Banksy, meaning that the film draws on a wealth of footage captured by the subject of the film before he even knew that he was the subject of the film. If that logic makes your head hurt then youre not alone. In fact, the film is so beautifully bizarre that many critics have suggested that it is actually a kind of mockumentary, though Banksy insists that its not. Ill leave you to be the judge of that... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYL8vdjeh3Y
