3. More Brains! A Return To The Living Dead (2011)
For those of you who dont know, Return of the Living Dead is a cult-classic zombie movie originally released back in 1985. Its about two guys who discover a secret military experiment in a warehouse and proceed to accidentally release a gas that reanimates the dead. Though it may sound like a tired concept, its probably one of the greatest zombie films ever made, exploiting obscene images of gore and excessive degrees of violence to shock and disgust its audience in equal measure. Return Of The Living Dead encapsulates that perfect blend of horror and comedy thats just so rare nowadays, making it one the most memorable attempts at a zombie film ever. For that reason, More Brains! A Return to the Living Dead should be considered necessary viewing for anyone who considers themselves a true horror fan. Unlike The Making Of Aliens, the documentary isnt just about the filmmaking process itself. In fact, the majority of the running time is instead dedicated to interviews with the cast and crew about the difficulty of actually getting the film produced at all. From financial concerns to legal disputes with George Romero over the title of the film, More Brains! is as much about the practical dimensions of filmmaking than it is about the artistry. You might say that doesnt sound particularly inspiring, but just listening to the ways that the producers and the director overcame these issues is compelling stuff. The film gives you a pretty clear insight into the everyday concerns of making movies, and for that reason its on this list. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AidiXSDnEqw
