James Spader made a decent stab at bringing an A.I. to life in April's Age Of Ultron, but as is often the case with MCU movies, Spader had his work cut out for him bringing much interest to an under-written villain role. Spader's innate menace and charisma meant his Ultron was never dull, but the actor was still outright beaten by another playing an all-CGI Marvel character this year. As with Spader and Ultron, Scott Adsit's voice acting was a huge part of why Big Hero Six's Baymax became a success. As the film's inflatable 'healthcare companion', Adsit goes for the perfect melding of robotic detachment and concern, and in the process comes off sounding like a less sociopathic HAL 9000. It takes just the right kind of performer to bring empathy to a computer-generated balloon machine and with Baymax, Adsit has created something that both kids and adults can sympathise with. Adsit also expertly brings the humour, rendering a poor innocent robot's 'drunken' breakdown unexpectedly hilarious.
