10 Intense Horror Movies That Dared You To Sit Through Them
9. Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer
Michael Rooker has a knack for playing villains, which is why it's no surprise the Guardians of the Galaxy star kickstarted his career playing a mass-murdering psychopath in Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer.
As terrifying as Rooker is in the role, the titular character is scarier in his public persona. While he's out and about, Henry has no trouble coming across as warm, kind, and approachable to strangers and associates.
Henry isn't seen killing and dismembering his victims until much later, which makes it difficult to picture him committing such atrocities. So, when it becomes apparent that Henry has slaughtered countless men, women, and children, he can't be perceived as anything but the monster he is.
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer isn't just brutal, but depressing. When Henry displays moments of empathy, it looks like he might seek redemption. Despite his best efforts, Henry proves to be shackled by his cruel nature, making it impossible to leave behind his evil lifestyle.
Since Henry receives no justice or punishment for his deplorable actions, viewers are left feeling deflated and empty by the end.
