10 Intense Horror Movies That Dared You To Sit Through Them
7. Titane
In Titane, fire chief Vincent is contacted by a man claiming to be his long-lost son, Adrien. Little does he know "Adrien" is a serial killer called Alexia, posing as Vincent's child to evade the law. Because Alexia is heavily pregnant, she finds it increasingly difficult to hide her belly and maintain her male persona.
Just to make things worse, Alexia has been impregnated... by a car.
Because of Titane's outlandish premise, viewers should expect this Cronenberg-like drama to focus on the pregnancy above all else. Instead, the story centres around Alexia's inner turmoil and her unique connection with her new "father". Titane spends so much time exploring the pair's unique relationship, it's easy to forget Alexia has a car-baby growing inside of her.
So, when people get hacked up or Alexia's body starts leaking motor oil from every orifice, it's a reminder that Titane is a brutal and unapologetic horror movie above all else. Although it has a smorgasbord of violent imagery, it's the way the film highlights the deepest, most haunting corners of human nature that's sure to leave the biggest impression.
