That’s about all we get to know about this unstoppable force of nature that furiously walks after anyone unlucky enough to befall its curse, killing them horrifically upon catching them. The only way to draw its predation is to have sex with someone else infected, and the only way to rid oneself of it is to pass it on to someone else. You also can’t see it unless you’ve contracted its attention, which makes for some weird deaths for those who abstain from getting freaky in the name of saving themselves from invisible demon attackers. It Follows is the story of a teenage girl that inadvertently becomes a target, and her attempt to escape the fate the creature brings. With a constant presence pursuing the characters and a completely anonymous aura surrounding it, there’s little that can be done besides ride out the experience with the victims on screen, building in tension as slowly and deliberately as the walking entity before exploding into an electrifying final act.
