9. Foul Bachelor Frog
Cinematic equivalent: Howard Hughes (Leonardo Dicaprio) in The Aviator From Katherine Hepburn we jump to her real-life boyfriend Howard Hughes, as depicted in The Aviator. Foul Bachelor Frog is the unmarried, unhygienic modern man at his worst. There are a number of characters that would fit the bill here, often they play the comic-relief roommate to some male lead in a romantic comedy (see: Rhys Ifans in Notting Hill). But none can out-foul Hughes at the height of his madness (or, if he was anybody else, what would be called his Howard Hughes period). The disgusting Howard Hughes spends days in isolation, watching films in darkness, unshaven, sitting naked in his own filth and pissing into jars. Among Hughes' many achievements, he was the original neckbeard: decades before the advent of the internet. (Editor's note: We at WhatCulture do not share the views of the writer, as per the foulness of urinating into jars. We understand that for many, this is a measure taken to save time and energy in their productive and sexually active lives. We wish to apologise to our male readers for any offence taken).
