10 Interstellar Theories That Are Totally Insane

10. It€™s A Prequel To Wall-E

Okay, so technically this is a theory that€™s pretty close to home in its origins, but its undeniably interesting (and more than a little insane, admittedly). But seriously, all of the evidence is right there, staring you in the face: Wall-E opens on a ravaged, post-apocalyptic Earth that humanity has entirely abandoned thanks to dwindling resources and an inflating population. The only thing left are the robots tasked with keeping everything relatively tidy whilst we float around in a idealised, very green space colony beyond the stars. Spoiler alert, but that€™s the plot of Interstellar down to a tee, with the ending included. The film opens on an Earth which is collapsing not due to obesity and out-of-control spending, sure, but collapsing nonetheless. Resources are almost all gone, so McConaughey and co set off to find another habitable world to move to. That doesn't quite work, but by the final act young Murphy Cooper has grown up, figured out a way for humanity to live on a big space station, and who's to say it isn't captained by Jeff Garlin from Curb Your Enthusiasm?
