10 Intriguing Casting Rumours About Upcoming Comic Book Movies

4. Karl Urban Might Be In Aquaman

Whether you actually believe Aquaman will get his own stand-alone movie depends pretty heavily on whether you believe that Batman Vs Superman will make enough money to sustain the planned DC expanded universe. Regardless of any confidence issues, DC are still currently moving ahead. They've got their leading man, but it seems they're also looking at balancing him with a villain who has already previous in the comic book movie genre by casting Karl Urban. That would be Urban's fourth genre role after RED, Priest and Dredd, and while there's no confirmation of who he would play, it seems logical that he'd square off with Aquaman as someone like Black Manta. Meanwhile, DC also apparently want to talk to 300 prequel director Noam Murro about helming the 2019 water-logged stand-alone. Chances: 7/10 His experience puts him in a good position, and Warner Bros are going to need someone good to convince of any of Aquaman's villains. Because they're mostly just very silly.
