3. Nick Nack
“I may be small, but I never forget!”
Despite his diminutive size, Hervé Villechaize’s Nick Nack is a ruthless murderer, using his deceptive appearance to assist the world’s highest paid assassin, Francisco Scaramanga (Sir Christopher Lee) in The Man With The Golden Gun (1974).
However, Nick Nack also has his eye on inheriting his master’s private island, considerable fortune and business interests should the high-priced, precise contract killer ever bite the bullet himself.
Therefore, when Double-0 Seven (Sir Roger Moore) kills Scaramanga and destroys the island, the assassin’s devilish French valet stows away aboard Scaramanga’s Chinese junk, which James Bond and hapless MI6 operative, Mary Goodnight (Britt Ekland) are escaping aboard.
Interrupting Bond as he romances Goodnight, Nick Nack uses his short stature to his advantage, but is finally trapped in a suitcase! Although it initially appears that Double-0 Seven hurled the suitcase into the sea, Nick Nack is seen trussed up in the junk’s rigging during the film’s end credits.
Although he was likely turned over to the Hong Kong authorities, Nick Nack may well have reformed, changed his name to Tattoo and been recruited by a certain Mr Roarke (Ricardo Montalban) to assist him on another kind of fantasy island...
