10 Jaw-Dropping Death Scenes That Blew Audiences' Minds

3. Steven Seagal Ejects Himself Out Of The Film - Executive Decision

executive decision seagal B movie action icon, Steven Seagal, has lost most of his marquee value in the years since 1996's Executive Decision was released but at the time Seagal was riding high on a wave of popularity in the wake of action hits like Under Siege and Out For Justice. Executive Decision's marketing campaign heavily emphasized the onscreen pairing of Kurt Russell and Seagal as a selling point for the feature. So, you can imagine audiences' dismay when Seagal's character is killed off less than a third of the way in. Seagal's team is assembled to free hostages from a hijacked 747. His crew boards the plane in mid-air using a boarding sleeve to connect their stealth bomber to the 747. Things go haywire and it appears that both planes will go down if they stay connected. In an altruistic act of self-sacrifice, Seagal's character opts to save his team by disconnecting the boarding sleeve while still inside of it. This unexpected demise, in stark contrast to Seagal's usual onscreen aura of invincibility, left audiences' minds thoroughly blown.
