10 Key Characters Created Specifically For Comic Book Movies

Not all comic book movie characters originated in comic books.

Comic books have existed as a format since the early 1930s and hundreds of characters from within them have been brought to the big screen. Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, Iron Man, the Mask, Hellboy, Supergirl and even Tank Girl have seen live action adaptations - and that's just a tiny fraction of the heroic characters alone right there. Every major character from comic books has a supporting cast. For example, Superman has (deep breath) the likes of his adopted mother and father Martha and Jonathan, his biological relations Jor-El and Supergirl, his love interests Lois Lane and Lana Lang, various work colleagues like Perry White and Jimmy Olsen and, of course, an abundant rogues gallery that includes of Lex Luthor, Brainiac and Darkseid. Regardless, sometimes that supporting cast just isn't sufficient or suitable for movie-makers and, as a result, a number of new characters have been created specifically for use on the big screen - in fact, some of them end up proving so popular that they end up making the reverse-to-the-norm transition from movies to comic books. So, not including any amalgamations or fresh takes on characters and focusing solely on completely original characters, here are ten key characters that were created specifically for comic book movies...
