10 Key Elements To Make A Great Power Rangers Movie

7. Don't Treat It Too Seriously

Similarly to the idea of embracing fun, the writing and directing team should actively try not to ground this franchise, it's not a Christopher Nolan movie.

With the idea of a certain level of realism in movies being necessary, this throws the Power Rangers general ethos into disarray. There is no realism in relatively untrained teens being able to fend off powerful alien threats with the help of a disembodied essence and humorous robot, it just makes no sense. Adding hushed colour tones and shadow only serves to make the film seem like some kind of awful meta joke, acting like a grown up version of the original property.

Treat the Power Rangers like the unbelievable property it is, there does not need to be an explanation behind their powers and there most definitely should be colours everywhere. On top of this, toe the line between humour and serious action to the point where the audience can sit on the edge of their seat one moment and then rolling around on the floor laughing like children the next.

Keeping in with the idea of not taking it too seriously, there should be a super unrealistic hype moment that brings a tear to all of the adults in the audience. In a similar way to the Thor entrance in Infinity War or even Superman's coming around in Justice League we need a fist pump moment that has us more excited than ever.
