5. They're Not The First Human Rangers
The stakes for the Rangers should not be established by a cutscene prior to the film, nor should it be exposited by a talking head in a wall. We're at a day and age now where whole universes are being built for movies to have their own universal continuity, imagine the Rangers having a mythos that dates back thousands of years, cave paintings of five mysterious warriors saving the world only to never be seen again.
Establishing that the Power Rangers have existed previously in some form would lend credence to the idea that everything these characters are fighting for now has planetary importance and immediately increases the stakes. Establishing that they are not the first earthly Power Rangers would change the entire story and in turn take some weight off the screen writers in finding ways to establish the superhuman side of the group.
